What do you do.After May 2020, sports cards and pokemon cards have taken off. Prices becoming insanely high and are being treated like a coolmodity, like every other Covid fad. So where do you go when your hobby has been highjacked by speculators?<div><br></div><div>I don't know about you but I hit the non-sports card market. I have swept up some of my favorite sets to date, including mostly near mint - mint 1977 Star Wars complete sets 1-5 with stickers, and even had the fun of separating a 1981 Star Wars Burger King Coca Cola 36 card set which only cost me a Burger King lunch.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<strong>In 2019 the FBI investigations into the sports card collectibles marketing and fraudulent trimming and altering of cards for higher grades from PSA, SGC, and BGS. <span style="font-size: medium;"><b>POINTS TO TAKE AWAY FROM THIS THREAD:</b></span><br />
<br />
1. <b>Please share this thread wherever and with whoever you can.</b> I have spent many hours working on this all I ask for in return is that as many people as possible see this. <br />
<br />
2. Urge PWCC to release a list of all cards submitted by major trimmers.
This is the only way to definitively know what other cards are trimmed
(see below: This list is not complete.). <br />
<br />
3. In the meantime, use PWCC's auction archive as a trimmed card database. <br />
<br />
<span style="font-size: medium;"><b>CRITICAL NOTES REGARDING THE LIST BELOW:</b></span><br />
<br />
This list is <b>NOT COMPREHENSIVE</b> whatsoever. There are many cards
that could not be located on Worthpoint. In fact, most of the cards sold
by PWCC that are not included in this thread were not located, not
untrimmed. Moreover, <b>Exquisite, Contenders, Topps Chrome, Topps
Chrome Refractors, Bowman 48 Base, some Prestige cards, and other
similar cards with solid borders were not researched</b>. This is
troubling itself, as those cards are the most likely to be trimmed in my
opinion. Finally, it should go without saying that anything that is not
serial numbered or autographed could not be researched. <br />
<br />
The list is structured such that the way to detect trimming in the
heading is applicable for all cards in that section. Subheadings are
only applicable for the card that is listed directly below them. <br />
<br />
Photos of the most difficult to detect cards are provided at the bottom.
Please let me know (in the thread) if there are additional cards that
should have before/after photos produced. I will try to fulfill any
requests. <br />
<br />
Finally, please keep all inquiries/requests in this thread if at all possible. My inbox is basically full. <br />
<br />

One that I had my eyes on when they first started appearing and my appreciation of Edvard Munch, which I got to see in person at a museum. The card is the 2018 Pikachu Munch: A Retrospective. According to PSA data, Pokemon card sellers everywhere have taken in bigger gains this year than it has in over a decade combined. Those little Pokemon cards are all grown up and commanding adult prices. Even adults who were never aware that Pokemon cards were a thing are learning about them and how Pokemon can evolve and as a trainer which ones to have, and how they correlate to price. Baseball cards and sports cards in general have reached bubble valuations in the past 9 months. Just comparing PSA prices realized in February 2020 to December 2020 shows how high prices have gone up and how fast.<div><br></div><div>There are sellers running out of low grade stock and selling high grade cards at 5x to 20x the price they were 9 months ago, especially in basketball cards. However some cards seem to appreciating at a more sustainable pace than others, like in baseball. For instance a Jackie Robinson 1954 PSA 7 averaged $$700-$900 and a PSA 5 averaged $200-$300 in February to early March 2020.</div><div><br></div><div>As of today, December 22, 2020 the average price is between $1100-$1500 and $400-$600.</div><div>The truly centered and unaltered cards fetching the highest premiums from savvy new collectors. Overpriced cards changing hands often in high volume is common this year.</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

It is my opinion and simple market physics that the cards that jumped prices the highest the quickest will fall the most just as quickly, while the sustained rise in prices of some cards such as higher grade 5.5+ of iconic early Jackie Robinson, early Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Sandy Koufax, and Ted Williams may not deflate much at all.</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Being in PSA or BGS slab doesn't mean it is real or unaltered. They are only good as their last big miss. Think twice maybe three times before making any large purchase online. You should look at the card carefully, ask the questions, compare true originals, visit a card shop and look at them.Take a lot of time before the purchase. If anything feels off. Stop and walk away. Quite a few on eBay are listed in the article below. I stick with raw cards because they are easier to identify during some years against reprints, fakes, and altered cards. Once you see an original in good form in a slab then compare that with others... the red flags are easy to identify. Same with identifying raw card authenticity. Do you due diligence.</div><div><br></div><div>Below is the link to a riveting article and sources of good information and draws scrutiny perhaps mostlynfrom scammers and players in the card collecting world.</div><div><br></div><div><a href="http://www.sportscardradio.com/alert-fake-trimmed-altered-graded-cards-by-psa-or-bgs/">http://www.sportscardradio.com/alert-fake-trimmed-altered-graded-cards-by-psa-or-bgs/</a><br></div></div><div><br></div><div>Numerous cards have been found to be fake or altered in graded slabs. Grading is only as good as the grader and at the volume people are sending in cards, don't expect quality grades. So many cards that are off center still get Mint Gem 10 while another grader may give it a MC or OC flag. This is rampant especially with modern cards. Most young collectors don't care about centering while the most scrutinizing collectors do.</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Guess which?I purchased two cards with #181 and #253 on them. I also have one that is graded PSA 8 of the Brewer-Erving-Hayes Dunk card on its way to make it official.<div><br></div><div>The two cards were $5 each from two sellers, one a reputable card shop in town. They both have the card numbers mentioned above on them but very different qualities. So here they are. Do you know which is an original print?</div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Pretty much ready for it to be over. However, some lockets of culture and humanity overflowed with exuberant speculation. No not the stock market, but the sports card collectibles market.<div><br></div><div>Sports card prices peaked in August after 5 months of hyper growth and when Covid got people sitting in front of eBay all day and the fact that people bought up cases of cards like was toilet paper in March amd April in the peak of it.</div><div><br></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

</div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Fractures in the sports cards market are showing as prices are falling faster than they went up and Panini seems to be set to ship out next year's cards in time for the 2020 holiday shopping season. Laker's championship cards are available for preorder now on NBA.com.</div><div><br></div><div>Another dynamic of the trading card market is graded cards craze. Only two very reputable companies exist, PSA and BGS. There are some early cards graded by BCCG and SCG, but should stick with pre war cards if dealing with the latter. However, as with any company, they want to increase revenue and profit. In turn, the numbern of graded cards saturating the market is getting to a point where weaknesses in the quality of grading has come to question as well. So many modern cards graded as 10, typically the top grade have faults or are off center. The liberty given to early pre war cards due to their scarcity but now litters the collector's market.</div><div><br></div><div>I am a strong believe a modern uncentered card even if proportionate should not get a 10. Period. This is further backed by the fact that uncentered sports cards sell at nearly half the price of a gem mint centered on both sides card.</div><div><br></div><div>Fastforward to now. Prices are falling and those who have hobbied in cards for years finally have the chance to offload some of the millions and millions of cards sitting in people's closets and get back into the sports cards collelctibles market.</div><div><br></div><div>Like any fad, and at current levels that is what it seems like today, it will ease and prices will return to earth. So pick your cards wisely, pick players you like and are collectible. So when you realize they may be just worthless pieces of paper they still hold some value, so if prices drop to the levels of 5 years ago it is easier to wait for the next tulip mania.</div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663799263146606850.post-32630844630029390062020-07-01T13:23:00.000-07:002020-07-06T07:32:36.742-07:00BLACK LIVES MATTER<div style="text-align: center;">

You will be asked to pay for your tickets in full + the service fees. They also will keep the service fees already charged when you first bought the tickets if you purchased online.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div>
I paid their "misuse" fee for two tickets which is suppose to let me continue using their service. Then promptly a couple weeks later they cancelled my account when I attempted to buy tickets for Captain Marvel. That's when I received the message that my service had been cancelled in my previous post.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
As the fee was suppose to let me continue using the service, but instead they cancelled my service, I promptly contested the "misuse fee" charge on my credit card. You can do the same.</div>
<div>

You can make the payment for your Sinemia card misuse fee at <a data-saferedirecturl="https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.sinemia.com/member&source=gmail&ust=1554399139208000&usg=AFQjCNFvjlSn7heeVmIARbx_dUnwdpFJVg" href="https://www.sinemia.com/member" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">https://www.sinemia.com/member</a><wbr></wbr>. The online/on-site ticketing feature will be activated right after the misuse fee (cost of the ticket) is charged. Please note that failure to check in may lead to account termination per terms of service. </span></div>

WAS as in the past. I imagine my Google location data, Sinemia usage data, and charges to my card for service fees will prove I never violated their terms of service. They even charged me the full price of my tickets when I forgot to check in on the app to continue using their service. Does it seem like Sinemia is cancelling everyone who surpassed what they paid for the service in the price of tickets purchased to cut their losses?<br />
<br />
Here's my cancellation notice:<br />

The full screen, edge to edge experience is the ultimate achievement and so far, Apple and Samsung have failed to create a phone that delivers this experience.<br>
<br>
<br>
Notches are flaws and a step backward for mobile phones trying to fill in the "look I am different" spot. The first is this example, you can see notches suck. If you use the feature to hide the notch on the Apple iPhone you lose another portion of useable screen space. Even the Samsung S10 micro notch is intrusive. How about the Oneplus? Please! No more notches!<br>

<br></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">Fortunately, manufacturers are noticing this flaw and coming up with some elegant looking screens such as this render from Lenovo.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">It is my strong opinion that notches are a flawed design that delivers only one value. The frontsixe camera. I certainly don't use more than once a year. The value as it effects the viewing experience is negative in my humble opinion. Aren't notches something you whittle into wood or into your belt? You don't put them on phone screens, please! No more notches!</div>

<br></div>
<div dir="ltr">
+Sinemia offers single and family packages. I have a two person, two 2D movies a month subscription that I paid for one year in advance to get the best discount. It roughly came out to $15 each a month. Being tickets are up to $16.99 here for a single ticket it was a no brainer. The single and multi person packages are very convenient. They also have tiers to choose from.</div>
<div dir="ltr">
<br></div>
<div dir="ltr">

<div dir="ltr">

<ul>
<li>Don't like the fee? You can opt for a physical Sinemia credit card and buy tickets at the theater to avoid the processing fee but then lose the ability to get tickets online ahead of time. Unless you physically buy them days ahead of time.</li>
</ul>
<br>
<div dir="ltr">
</div>
<ul>
<li>You must check in on the app once at the theater between specific times when the movie is to start. They give you an hour or two before and after the start time to let you check in. Remember it's based on the start time. If you forget once they just give you warning. HOWEVER, if you forget to check in a second time, you will be asked to pay for the full amount of the tickets otherwise lose the service.</li>
</ul>
You would think its easy to remember to check in but I forgot twice and paid for it. Being that six months is left in the subscription, I paid.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663799263146606850.post-38677312222499971512018-07-30T16:13:00.000-07:002018-09-24T12:22:03.200-07:00Move over MoviePass here comes Sinemia, AMC Stub A-List, and Cinemark Movie ClubBack on July 17, 2016. I wrote about MoviePass as a loyal subscriber since 2013. I cancelled my subscription to MoviePass as the convenience and our love of going to the theater 2 times a week waned. We were originally paying $29.99 each (for two) for a movie a day. No reruns. Then it went up to $34.99 a month for 6 movies max. Then you had to start taking photos of your ticket stub. Fail to do this and you would get charged full price for your ticket and subscription suspended. Then they made it so it's impossible to watch new releases by blacking them out on opening and many times on following weekends. It became too difficult to use MoviePass to get into a movie.<br />
<br />
I wasn't against paying my fair share, the $34.99 for 6 movies a month worked for me since I saw 6 movies mostly on Friday nights and Sunday afternoon. It was still working for me in terms of numbers. However, all the other problems added up and we ditched MoviePass as it got caught by Helios and Matheson Analytics, Inc. which became infamous for making the service $9.99 a month for unlimited movies. A completely unsustainable maneuver. Now MoviePass is almost gone with only $1.8 million value, the company can't even support a weekend of movies for its subscribers.<br />
<br />
Well move on over as there's movie theater subscriptions popping up EVERYWHERE.<br />
<br />
The best deal thus far is <a href="https://www.amctheatres.com/amcstubs/alist?rel=alist_loy_alert_alert-desktop" target="_blank">AMC Stubs A-List</a> at $19.99 a month for 3 movies a week. That's 12 movies a month! Not a bad deal if you live or are near AMC theaters anywhere. With it comes extra points for concessions and goods purchased with your AMC Stubs A-List subscription.<br />
<br />
Second is <a href="https://www.cinemark.com/movieclub" target="_blank">Cinemark Movie Club</a> at $8.99 a month you get one ticket and then all tickets are $8.99, including two additional tickets at $8.99. In addition, get 20% off concession for everyone! If you skip a month, it rolls over to the next month. Not bad and only good at Cinemark theaters.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://www.sinemia.com/R/LZ8WVL" target="_blank">Sinemia</a><span id="goog_465184246"></span><a href="https://www.blogger.com/"></a><span id="goog_465184247"></span> has (which is what we now use as a couple) a multi tier subscription program where you pay for the year in advance and can view from 1 to 3 movies a month. We have a couple's plan and we can purchase 2 tickets for 2 movies a month at $15.99 a month. In our area one adult ticket is $16.99 each so this works as long as we watch 2 movies a month. Also since they essentially give you a credit card number, you can use it to purchase tickets from Movietickets.com and Atom for any movie at anytime in advance. After using Sinemia for a month, it works for us. We never received a card in the mail but we can use the Advanced Ticket feature to get a number to purchase tickets. Then at the theater you need to check in on the app to prove you went to the theater. That's it! The check-in was a little quirky at times but works.<br />
<br />
Look for more of these movie theater subscription services come to life as theaters look for additional ways to retain customers and revenue as superhero movies and Star Wars slow down and online subscription services like Hulu, Prime Video, and Netflix keep stepping up their presence in the feature film and television series world.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7663799263146606850.post-47154927475807086622018-07-11T14:01:00.002-07:002018-07-25T14:58:07.140-07:00Review of YouTube TV (July 2018)If you're a Google and Android fan, this is a no brainer. The quality of the video stream is top notch and I've never had buffering or issues like I've had with SlingTV. The video stream quality is also noticeably better too. However if you're a shopper like me then stick around a minute.<br />
<br />
YouTube TV offers DVR mode, records new episodes, and has playback of old episodes of many shows. It also carries the major television networks for your local area. The quality is very good and the platform is quite stable (aside from a couple app outages which are rare). They also have add on networks and programming like many of the other live TV streaming services.<br />
<br />
There is good competition in this space and everyone seems to be settling for the $40 range on their products. SlingTV even raised their price on the Orange package by $5 as the competition stays above that range.<br />
<br />
Now available to nearly anyone with a good network connection or cell phone service...<br />
<br />
SlingTV<br />
Youtube TV<br />
Hulu TV<br />
DirectTV Now<br />
Spectrum TV Stream<br />
and more to come.<br />
<br />
YouTube TV can have 3 simultaneous streams at once, and it also can be shared in the family sharing feature on Google so you can let a family member log in with their own credential and have their own saved shows and such.<br />
<br />
YouTube TV is constantly adding new networks and recently raised their prices from $35 to $40, as new networks were added. I tried Hulu TV during the beta and there were some streaming issues with the app crashing or streams stopping. Also the Live TV feature was only found using the desktop browser platform. It was much more difficult to get to Live TV on the mobile app and on the Xbox One. They have updated their menus and should be easier to get to the live TV features on the Hulu app now.<br />
<br />
I have not tried DirectTV Now or Spectrum TV Stream but imagine since those are from big cable television players they have good competitive products as they play catch up to the cord cutting wave as cable subscribers diminish and the number of cord cutters increase.<br />
<br />
Video content consumers want choices and to able to make choices without stuffy bundles that are wasteful to end users and the content providers. It seems like the tide is finally in and when it goes back out; the early adopters, both the provider and consumer are defining the market. However as more jump on board, the market is seemingly look like the old cable bundles. Where is my a la carte choices? Not yet... but someone somewhere will think of a way soon.<br />

What do you do?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Bicycling citations are treated the same as motor vehicle traffic citations and you will be fined the same amount regardless in a car or bicycle. So why are cyclists fined just as heavily? Because there hasn't been a lot of progress in city, state, and traffic law penal code for cyclists. Awareness must build as there are as more cyclists than motorcycle riders and the popularity is ever growing.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">When you get your ticket, officers often start of with a fishing question, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" If you honestly don't know why, say so. This is the first step to having positive contact with the officer. However, if you know you broke a traffic code, like cruising through an intersection with a stop sign in California, admit it. Whether you will receive a warning or a citation differs from officer to officer, as well as city to city. Some officers just don't like cyclists how some people don't like cilantro, it's just unfortunate.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">You will be asked to provide your driver's license. Since there is no auto vehicle or vehicle registration involved with the DMV, they will file your citation with your driver's license number. If you refuse or don't have your ID, you will still get a citation. They should put on the citation that it is a bicycle citation, so it doesn't get wrung through the DMV and hit you with possible points and insurance rate hike. </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sometimes it still goes through to the DMV and you have to go back to the court clerk to take care of it because it slips by them. </span><span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">A violation for rolling through a stop sign is around $200-$400 where I live, just like a car or motorcycle.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br />Ok, so you're over with the initial bad part... so how do you get your ticket dismissed or the fines reduced?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If you live in cities with the bicycle safety diversion programs you are in luck. If you don't have a diversion program in your area, stay tuned. As you will have to pay a reduced fine by fighting it in court but keep reading if you want see some of the cities on board and tips in court.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If you don't see your city on here, do a quick search on Google for your city and the term bicycle traffic school or visit the local law enforcement web site for information. If you still don't find one for the city you got your ticket in, you can try to fight it in court. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Remember, if you're guilty of a traffic infraction, ask for a fine reduction from the judge, citing a cyclist is not as dangerous as someone behind the wheel of a motor vehicle and if you were actually being safe and observant while making the infraction the judge may grant mercy and reduce your fines. However, if you were being a danger to yourself and others in a crowded traffic intersection, you may not have much of an argument. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sometimes the ticketing officer will not show up for the case and the ticket will be dismissed. I witnessed this firsthand when a teenage driver showed up for his second ticket in so many weeks. The ticketing officer did not show up for court and this sometimes happens for various reasons. In addition, the officer's notes may have holes in it, for instance if you were ticketed for stop light and not a stop sign, some lights have a delayed green and the officer needs to have hard evidence you rode through the red and that it wasn't a delayed green light. Use your best judgment and don't try to be a weasel, as weasels don't get sympathy from anyone. I wish you the best.</span></div>

To compare...The C1 reportedly is 128g, thus the C2 is supposedly lighter at 121g. However we can't be sure what type of bolts and faceplate were used.<div><br><div>Also te C2 is made from 7000 series aluminum and the C3 with 6000 series aluminum. The 7000 series is stronger due to a higher proportion of metal in its properties but the strength overall between the two in cycling applications will not be noticeable to a rider if it's the frame or stem. Aluminum bikes are often made with 6000 or 7000 series aluminum and no one notices a difference in the ride or strength of the frame or parts.<br>
<br>
<b>Conclusion: </b>The C2 with dual arms (not the full face plate) at $20 - $25 is a light stem at an excellent price. It's even decent with the full faceplate which is about 9g heavier. I just received my stem, new stock and it weighed in at 141g as you can see below. So it seems weights may vary.<br>

<br />
I currently switched over from the Amazon FireStick and Chromecast with SlingTV to the Xbox system with Google TV and Amazon Prime, I haven't looked back since. The ease of use, stability of stream, and perfectly executed features have won me over.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwhArDHoIt6i2YlJfDJ-fFh7ie8CF3iZnVnr0AN_Myj5A8zC4BzjEeTbItKnXJCinPwA6GZDkuFrpui3UTxmpanFpoj0cymXt4HGo2wqzY-fcL8LGGhfXLJZun0eBsgk1LaWLnoG-kvbE/s1600/youtube-tv-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="787" data-original-width="1399" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwhArDHoIt6i2YlJfDJ-fFh7ie8CF3iZnVnr0AN_Myj5A8zC4BzjEeTbItKnXJCinPwA6GZDkuFrpui3UTxmpanFpoj0cymXt4HGo2wqzY-fcL8LGGhfXLJZun0eBsgk1LaWLnoG-kvbE/s320/youtube-tv-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
We live in an area where the local stations OTA HD signals don't reach us from Mt. Wilson in Los Angeles, so I was interested in the DirectTV Now offering. HOWEVER, they DON'T HAVE AN APP FOR XBOX yet! So.... I went with YouTube TV being and have been impressed overall.<br />
<br />
Firstly, the streams are high quality HD and will adjust if there's latency on a mobile device. But you get live local stations, has a great DVR and Library features, and using it is fairly intuitive. This is how TV should be. One feature I would like to see is the ability to enter channel numbers to go to a specific channel instantly. I currently have a Talon Media Remote for the Xbox which I use for watching streaming TV. I also watch it on the go on my Android phone and have my wife as a user on the account.<br />

<br />
<br />
You can have up to 6 family members with their own account.<br />
There can be 3 concurrent streams at one time.<br />
The DVR features and functionality is one of the best.<br />
The Library is useful for accessing all of your media, favorited/saved shows and movies.<br />
Available in 39+ markets (<a href="https://support.google.com/youtubetv/answer/7068923?hl=en" target="_blank">click here to check in your area</a>).<br />
